What is it?
Primary Recruitment, also known as Formal or Fall Recruitment, is a week-long process for PNMs (potential new members) to be introduced into FSL life here at Drake and join a Panhellenic sorority. It is the period of time during the academic year when events are held by each NPC sorority on campus for the purpose of selecting new members.
Why should I do it?
Panhellenic sororities provide a great way to engage in the Drake and Des Moines community, strengthen character, and form engaging friendships that last a lifetime. Each sorority holds different values that they show through philanthropy, scholarship, and community involvement. Going Panhellenic allows members to fully develop themselves to their full potential.
Primary Recruitment
Formal Fall Recruitment
Primary recruitment will take place September 2nd-7th. The exact schedule is TBD.
The first days of recruitment is called Values Night. You will be able to meet each chapter and learn about what they hold close to their hearts. Potential New Members typically wear their Panhellenic-issued shirt and bottoms they feel comfortable in.
The second day of recruitment is called Sisterhood Night. You are invited back to certain chapters and get to know those chapter even better. You are also taken on a tour of each chapter facility and gain information about what a commitment to the chapter would look like.
The third day of recruitment is called Preference Day. You visit up to two chapters and are able to spend more time with them and see special ceremonies. Potential New Members typically wear dressier clothing for this day and you should wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident! Rompers, dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, dress pants are completely fine as long as you feel your best.
The last day is Bid Day where you run home to your new home. You will open your bid card with the other Potential New Members then head to 34th street where you’ll get to meet many more sisters. #biddaybestday!
