Delta Gamma was the first sorority in the United States to establish an independent philanthropic foundation in 1951. Delta Gamma was also of the seven charter members of the National Panhellenic Conference. Some notable national alumnae include comedian Julia Sweeney, Olympic gold medalist Jill Savery, CEO Sharen Jester Turney and actress Patricia Heaton.

During 2018, Drake's Alpha Lambda chapter volunteered 1,713 hours, earned a chapter average GPA of 3.58, and raised over $4,000 for the Delta Gamma Foundation during their fall philanthropy event, Anchor Splash. They have repeatedly been honored with highest GPA in Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Drake Outstanding Community Service Award, and the Chapter of the Year award.
